Car Safety Tips for Peace of Mind
Picture this: you’re driving home after a hard day at work, the post-Christmas blues are in full swing, and with the freezing weather and dark skies the only thing you want to do is get home ASAP. Imagine the despair when you have to pull over due to a punctured tyre. What do you do? Call Dad? A recovery truck? Or are you prepared with a spare tyre or a repair kit?
Let’s face the facts, more drivers than you might imagine are on the road without knowledge on how to deal with situations like this, and at Beverley Motor Works we want to change that by helping drivers get clued up so that you don’t have to be stuck at the side of the road, you can rescue yourself!
Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for a new series of videos and tutorials that will help you in a car crisis.
In the meantime, here’s a few simple tips to help you drive confidently in 2017:
Clean out your car. This may seem obvious from an aesthetic perspective, but in the event of a sudden stop or collision objects in your car become projectiles – stay safe and make sure your laptop and other loose objects are neatly tucked away in your bag.
Tyres aren’t just a problem when they’re flat. Check for general wear and tear regularly. Worn out tyres are not only safety hazards, if illegal each tyre is worth 3 points on your driving license and can invalidate your car insurance policy.
Consider keeping a tow strap in your car, this could save you from having to call a recovery truck and you can get one for less than £10!
